I've started working on a series of small (eight inches square) tonal drawings in white and ebony pencil on toned charcoal paper. These pieces are a translation of shapes that have "popped into my head" recently: rounded white forms floating across a darker background. In some cases they are simply shapes; in others, they refer to "real" objects such as bubbles or pearls. I plan to work on the project simultaneously with my larger painted works, on an ongoing basis, as the urge hits ... more to come!
