The right tool for the job

Under the category of "I wish someone had told me this, but no one did, so I'm telling you": When wrapping and/or shipping artwork, use BROWN CELLOPHANE TAPE to secure the bubble wrap around the painting. It holds the bubble wrap firmly in place, but peels off easily so you can reuse the bubble wrap. Masking tape, clear cellophane tape, and certainly duct tape stick so stickily to the bubble wrap that they only rip it up when you try to remove them. This is what professional art movers use.

Thank you for the info! Just what I need!

I'm glad, Jann! I wish I had realized this, 'cause now a bunch of my bubble wrap sheets are torn to ribbons, when if I'd just used the right tape, they'd be good as new ...

Also helpful - if you fold over a 1/2" or so on one end it's easier to pull off.

That's good to know, Jen, thanks. (Especially for someone like me, who cuts her fingernails short and doesn't feel like digging for the tape ends!)

My pal half-jokingly calls them "courtesy tabs". I've had a lot of grunt jobs, a couple of which were in shipping departments, which came in handy in some ways.

It IS a courtesy, which could save wasted time and shredded fingernails. Thank you again for the tip!
